Economic changes could benefit contractors

Contractors could be set to gain from new opportunities if government plans to stimulate the economy are put into play.

George Osborne, the chancellor, has stated the coalition's plans to improve economic growth and support businesses. Among the details is the idea to cut employment red tape and reform the way in which employment tribunals function in a bid to encourage hiring and job creation.

Tom Hadley, director of policy and professional services at the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, has remarked that such reforms are “long overdue”.

"Anything that can boost hiring activity and increase employer confidence has to be welcomed. These and other measures in the pipeline should increase fluidity in the jobs markets which will be good news for recruiters," he added.

The move follows plans announced by the government earlier this year explaining its intentions to lower administration and accountancy costs by around £600 million a year to help smaller companies in particular have a greater chance of growth.
These improvements and attempts at stimulating the economy could help to create more contractor opportunities in the future.
